Scar Therapy

Therapy Techniques

Tight or stuck down (adhered) scar tissue can cause symptoms such as localised pain, tightness, itchiness, sensitivity and decreased range of movement. In the case of abdominal scarring it can even cause digestive issues and organ dysfunction. Scars are not just on the surface of the skin, they go much deeper.
Vicky has undertaken the Restore Scar Therapy Oncology Scar Specialist training.
Most scars are able to be treated after 8 weeks (with some exceptions) but no scar is too old to benefit from scar therapy. As part of scar therapy, gentle hands-on techniques are applied onto or around the scar to alleviate the tension on it and restore mobility to the tissues. Other techniques such as cupping and the application of specialist creams, gels and silicone sheeting can also be prescribed.
Keloid and Hypertrophic scars can be treated.
